I pulled over and further investigation showed: (1) The rear wheel does not spin freely. If I hold the bike up and spin the rear wheel in the same direction it would spin if riding normally, it rapidly comes to a stop, rotating perhaps for 1/10th the time the front wheel does with the same strength spin. Rear wheel not spinning freely. Lay the wheel flat with the cassette and freehub facing upwards. Protect the disk rotor if you have one. Now give the freehub area a good whack with a strong stick, along the line of the axle. This can help to free stuck pawls (the bits that engage when pedaling). Thin penetrating oil applied judiciously to the freehub can have the same effect.

They cost about 12$ total but if you just bought the bike, take it back to the Bike shop and have them maintenance it for free. G.

Mine manifested itself by the freewheel binding if axle done up too tight, though mine was the QR one. A difference of an 1/8th of a turn was all it took to go form working OK to being rubbish. Answer (1 of 3): The cassette player inherently is a mechanical object and is therefore subject to noises related to mechanical objects. There are motors moving and levers guiding the magnetic tape to the tape head, there's the plastic cassette itself. There are many things that can "go wrong" on. FYI guys. You need a tape adapter. If anyone here is on ZR2usa, tell Mike a ribbonless cassette won't work. I pulled the ribbon tape out of a cassette and the player will try to run it both directions before kicking it out. The wheels spin freely so it has to be something along the lines of it not detecting the ribbon. But yeah, this is frickin.

Area Code 254. The tape could be wound too tightly or the adhesive is sticking to the tape layers. Trying tapping the cassette on a hard surface a few times to loosen the tape. Also, clean the capstan and pinch roller on your preferred deck before playing. charlie W, Nov 28, 2009..

Try lifting the wheel off the ground and rotating it by hand, it should spin freely for some time if everything is OK, if not check the following possibilities, 1/ the wheel is out of line and the tyre is catching on the chainstay, 2/ the wheel is buckled and ditto. 3/ the brakes are binding on. 4/ the wheel bearings are seized or overtightened. When tightening the thruaxle the wheel locks and is not spinning freely. Now, this occurs randomly sometimes it tightens more or less. I could ride to the mechanic and once there it will spin freely. I can go to ride and back at home it will be lock again.... Nothing. The cassette has all the spacers correctly aligned. There is no spacer in.

Nov 14, 2017 · Align the bottom of the platter with the motor spindle and place the platter down. Spin the platter two full rotations clockwise and then two counter-clockwise. This should allow the belt to hook onto the motor. Spin the turntable to test the belt. Give it a few clockwise spins, and then a few counter-clockwise spins.

Problem with hub or Freewheel, wheel does not spin freely when pedaling stops. Thread starter Smitty2GT; Start date Jul 19, 2009; S. Smitty2GT... well if u are runnig an unsealed freewheel hub i strongly recomand u get a cassette hub... unsealed stuff will alway be a pain in the ass. S. Smitty2GT Active Member. Jul 21, 2009. Remove quick-release skewer and cassette cogs. The left side of the axle is fitted with a hex hole. Use a 6mm hex wrench to hold the axle. Loosen the axle nut on the right side using a 17mm wrench. Freehub slides off axle after axle nut is removed. Axle can be removed by loosening the left side sleeve nut. Took the cassette off but the cylinder that hold that cassette does not spin easily. It appears to be under tension. Any advice on how to free it up would be appreciated. Top.... Tue Nov 08, 2016 9:18 am. Re: Cassette not spinning freely. Question: Wheel Doesn T Spin Freely When Jacked Up.
Should my wheel spin freely when jacked up? If you jack up both wheels the other will spin reverse direction. If you are in neutral then it would spin freely. Typically a stuck brake will pull to the opposite side when you hit the brakes from it, then when you go you will pull to the side of the stuck brake and smell it for a few miles. I just had this problem (pedals spinning forwards, cassette spinning, but wheel not moving) today, with a fairly new Mavic wheel freehub, and it was/is a COLD day.... and my pedals were to suddenly spin freely, it could be the death of me. Apr 15, 2012. #1. After ignoring my Tascam Porta05 Ministudio for the last 25 years, I thought I would blow the dust off the thing and see if it had any life left in it. It is actually in pristine condition except for one problem, the drive system for the cassette playback does not work. From what I understand it is either the belts or the tape.

Aug 24, 2012 · Aug 24, 2021. #6. First do a check of the mechanical portion. it may be that something is binding, that does happen. If you can take the drive belt off the motor and see that it runs in the play mode then the problem is mechanical. I have seen cassette decks with all kinds of mechanical problems. Step 4: Apply compressed air into the DVD or VCR. Spray a little amount of compressed air into your VCR recorder to clear out any dust or hair from the laser, lens, or heads that the cleaning CD won't remove. This action blasts the remaining debris and dust away from your VCR's hardware.

Check hub for cracks. It might have come apart. The lower part with the tyre spins faster then the hub itself (the part that fits in the cassette reel). You usually can remove the whole cassette mechanism, by removing 4 corner screws. This might not always look easy, because of wires that have to be disconnected.

When the full torque of 40 nM is applied, the wheel cannot spin freely at all. Removing the cassette and just mounting the lockring, it was soon clear that this was the culprit. One solution to this is to place a spacer (1.67mm width) on the far inside as is standard with most Mavic wheelsets (excluding Record 11sp-you don't need a spacer.
